Whale Watching

The San Diego Natural History Museum partners with Hornblower Cruises and Events to provide an unparalleled opportunity to experience whale watching off the San Diego coast. Join the Museum Whalers, museum-trained volunteer naturalists on one of these adventures. The Whalers have been accompanying guests aboard these cruises for a decade and come prepared with specimens, handouts, and great enthusiasm for our wonderful friends from the sea. The blue whale watching season runs from June 24 through September 4. More.

Hornblower San Diego Whale Watching Blog

Interested in learning more about our local marine life? Hornblower Cruises and Events has an informative blog that lists recent sightings, statistics, and updates on whales, dolphins, birds, and more in the San Diego region.

Each blog post includes thoughts from the ship’s captain on what was seen during the cruise. Blog posts come out weekly (typically each Monday) and will leave very little unknown about our local marine life.
